south then north

Load the car and write the note
Grab your bag and grab your coat
Tell the ones that need to know
We are headed north
-Avett Brothers, “I and Love and You”

This is it; we’re ready for the Pacific Crest Trail. As I write this, I’m drinking my last sips of coffee at the wooden table at my house, typing on my laptop. Activities that will be replaced with eating cold granola in a tent, looking at the maps for the day.

We’ve spent the time since we left The Cafe catching-up on a few things, packing, getting married, and taking the long way back from Pittsburgh via Niagara Falls!

Food for four days.

Now with packed bags, and full hearts, we’re on our way south to fly out of Boston to San Diego; where my brother will pick us up and drive us to the trailhead in Campo, California. After that, our goal is to wake up each day and head north for 2, 650 miles until we hit Manning Park, in British Columbia.

Here we go!
